The CCTV cameras installed on Kerala roads have become a headache to this 32 year old man as he was caught riding without a helmet. The man is now reportedly arrested and is also facing divorce from his wife. Confused? Was he arrested for not wearing a helmet? And for that reason his wife is divorcing him? These will be the questions you are thinking about. No, this was not the reason.
Let us see what happened. Safety cameras, installed on roads in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, clicked photos of the man travelling on a scooter without a helmet on 25th April 2023. Since the scooter was registered under his wife’s name, she received the challan with details of the violation along with the photos and details of the fine that was to be paid. On receiving the photos, the wife saw that another woman was travelling pillion with her husband on the scooter.
The wife questioned the husband about the woman travelling with him. The 32-year-old husband said that he had no relationship with the woman and had simply given her a lift. This led to an argument between the couple as the wife refused to believe her husband’s explanation.
On 5th May 2023, the wife filed a complaint at the Karamana police station, accusing the husband of beating her and their three-year-old child. The husband was taken into custody based on her statement. The man was arrested under several sections of the IPC and also under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act (assault or neglect of child)
The man was produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody. He could be facing a divorce with his wife as a result of the whole incident. However, from this incident, we can learn two things- Wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle, motorcycle, scooter, etc is crucial for personal safety. It is also mandatory to wear a helmet under the law. Second is to never cheat your spouse! What a strange incident!
