This is the first time that the parade is being held at the revamped ceremonial boulevard from the British period once known as the Rajpath. Around 65,000 people are expected to reach Kartavya Path to witness the parade on January 26. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is the Chief Guest this year.
Security has been beefed up in the national capital ahead of the 74th Republic Day celebrations today. According to the Delhi Police, around 65,000 people will witness the parade on January 26 and about 6,000 jawans have been deployed, which includes the paramilitary forces, and NSG apart from Delhi Police. The Kartavya Path will be monitored with the help of around 150 CCTV cameras.
