In the latest edition of online super sleuths, the internet is set alight by the fact that Marvel hunk Chris Evans could be potentially dating Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez.
This rumor first emerged on the birthplace of all wild internet stories — Twitter. According to fans, the pair are apparently romantically involved due to Evans following Gomez on Instagram (let the record show that Gomez does not follow Evans back) and the fact they are both appear to be single currently.

Whilst an Instagram follow to some may not be anything, in that frame of mind of digital dating a follow is practically a declaration of interest, especially when Evans follows less than 200 people on the app.
All in all, is this rumor nonsense or is there some credibility to what they’re saying? We investigate.
There is no tangible proof linking the pair together yet rumors escalated when an old video of Gomez back in 2015 admitting on Andy Cohen’s talk show Watch What Happens Live that Evans was her celebrity crush. “I sort of have a crush on Chris Evans. Is it safe to say that he is cute? He’s very cute”. Well, she’s not wrong. Gomez continued, saying “gracious man, he’s either gonna hate me or love me”.
The rumors were fuelled again when an anonymous source apparently saw the pair leaving the same studio and restaurant on the same day around similar times, implying that the team covertly dined together before departing their separate ways to avoid being caught. It has since been revealed that the images are incredibly old, dating back to 2017 however not even of the pair together.
Most recently, the internet was thrown into another spin when Selena was spotted wearing a knitted cable jumper that bears a striking resemblance to the one worn by Chris Evans in Knives Out. Again, it’s purely speculative at this point, however we can all surely dream, can’t we?
Gomez’s relationships have been a topic of speculation and ridicule over the years, so at first glance you may think these wild fan theories have credence, however with just the right amount of investigative work, we’re sad to say this legend has been busted.
Regardless of whether this was true or not, this is a poignant example of the stark contrast between female and male celebrities when it comes to their personal lives. Many stars, like Gomez, are constantly questioned and objectified with all the discussion even leading Gomez to take a hiatus from social media at one point.
