2. Talk to a lender<\/a> and get a pre-approval letter (this will require having a good deal of personal financial information to share with the lender).
3. Set a realistic timetable. You will likely need at minimum a temporary settlement in place and often a final settlement to purchase your home.
4. Finalize your divorce settlement \u2013 this will ensure there will be no unexpected expenses that will impact your ability to close on your new home.
5. Decide what to do with your family home. A sale if often the best option and the cleanest. There are other options (my ex bought me out but that was complicated\u2026) understand your best option.
